What to Know
The DePaul Blue Demons are 0-13 against the Creighton Bluejays since January of 2016, but they’ll have a chance to close the gap a little bit Thursday. The Blue Demons and Creighton will face off in a Big East battle at 10 p.m. ET at Wintrust Arena. DePaul is out to stop an eight-game streak of losses at home.
DePaul lost a heartbreaker to the Butler Bulldogs when they met last December, and they left with a heavy heart again on Tuesday. DePaul fell just short of Butler by a score of 73-71. DePaul’s defeat shouldn’t obscure the performances of forward David Jones, who had 17 points, and guard Javon Freeman-Liberty, who had 13 points.
Meanwhile, the Bluejays had enough points to win and then some against the Georgetown Hoyas on Monday, taking their game 88-77. Five players on Creighton scored in the double digits: guard Alex O’Connell (27), forward Ryan Hawkins (14), center Ryan Kalkbrenner (13), guard Ryan Nembhard (12), and forward Keyshawn Feazell (12).
DePaul is now 12-12 while Creighton sits at 16-8. Creighton is 9-6 after wins this year, and the Blue Demons are 3-8 after losses.
