Southern California @ Oregon State
Current Records: Southern California 23-4; Oregon State 3-22
What to Know
The #16 Southern California Trojans have enjoyed the comforts of home their last four games, but now they must head out on the road. USC and the Oregon State Beavers will face off in a Pac-12 battle at 11 p.m. ET on Thursday at Gill Coliseum. The Trojans will be strutting in after a win while Oregon State will be stumbling in from a defeat.
USC skirted by the Washington State Cougars 62-60 on Sunday thanks to a clutch half-court bomb from guard Boogie Ellis with 0:03 remaining. Ellis was the offensive standout of the contest for USC, picking up 21 points.
Meanwhile, Oregon State found themselves the reluctant recipients of an unfortunate 73-53 punch to the gut against the Arizona State Sun Devils on Saturday. Guard Jarod Lucas had a rough night: he played for 30 minutes but put up just four points on 2-for-11 shooting.
The Trojans are the favorite in this one, with an expected 10.5-point margin of victory. The odds have been favorable for them against the spread on the road this season, even if it’s been tough sledding overall. They are 6-3 ATS in away games but only 13-14 all in all.
USC’s victory brought them up to 23-4 while the Beavers’ loss pulled them down to 3-22. A couple defensive stats to keep an eye on: USC have been holding their opponents to a field goal percentage of 37.50%, which places them fifth in college basketball. On the other end of the spectrum, Oregon State has allowed their opponents to shoot 46.90% from the floor on average, which is the ninth highest shooting percentage allowed in college basketball. So the cards are definitely stacked against Oregon State.
